Professor Jose Ramon Hueso, MD, Ph.D. has been the head of the ophthalmology department at San Juan University Hospital of Alicante since June 1994, a position he won through a competitive contest.

Prior to this role, he held a permanent post at the Provincial Hospital of Alicante from July 1987 to March 1991 and a temporary post at the same hospital from April 1985 to July 1987.

Professor Hueso also served as a temporary assistant doctor at the Puerta de Hierro Clinic in Madrid from April 1981 to February 1983. During this time, he was responsible for the cornea transplant section from November 1981 to January 1983, serving as the acting section head.
